Elderly Man Rejects Plea Offer for Non-Fatal Shooting

A 66-year-old man accused of attempted murder rejected a plea offer for four years with three years supervised probation on Jan. 26 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn. 

Spencer Bright is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on March 28, 2021. 

During reception court on Wednesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 15 years suspending all but four years with three years supervised probation for first-degree assault. 

Bright and his defense attorney, Benjamin Charlton, rejected the plea. 

According to Baltimore Fox, on March 28, 2021, at approximately 7:33 p.m. officers were called to North Robinson Street near Pulaski Highway in the Elwood Park area for reports of shots being fired, where they found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot to the groin. 

Bright’s trial is scheduled for March 21.
