A 42-year-old Baltimore man rejected a plea of five years in prison on Jan. 21 for a non-fatal shooting nearly two years ago.

The defendant is facing five weapons charges, including discharging firearms, after an alleged shooting on March 7, 2020. His last court appearance was in July 2021, according to the Maryland Judiciary website.

During reception court on Friday, the prosecution offered the defendant a plea of five years with the possibility of parole for drug possession with a firearm. Defense attorney John Cox rejected the offer on behalf of his client.

The hearing concluded after counsel agreed on a trial date of June 1.
