Officer Keona Holley of the Baltimore Police Department was taken off life support on Dec. 23, one week after she was shot while sitting in her patrol car on Pennington Avenue.

“Our prayers are with Officer Holley’s family and loved ones, coworkers and the entire community,” Commissioner Michael Harrison said in a press release. “I thank her and the entire BPD community for their commitment, service and sacrifice. We mourn Officer Holley’s death together and we will heal together.”

Holley was shot on the 4400 bock of Pennington Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 16.

A day after the shooting, police arrested 31-year-old Elliot Knox and 32-year-old Travon Shaw in connection to the shooting as well as a homicide that occurred on the 600 block of Lucia Avenue about two hours later.

“I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Keona Holley, a devoted public servant who worked selflessly to protect our community,” Mayor Brandon Scott said in a press release. “Baltimore will never forget Officer Holley’s sacrifice and commitment to making a difference in her beloved city. I ask that everyone please keep Officer Holley’s family in your prayers as they endure the holiday season without their mother, daughter, sister and loyal friend.”
