Two Suspects Arrested in Shooting of Baltimore Officer

Two men have been arrested in connection to the Dec. 16 shooting of a Baltimore Police Department officer as well as a homicide that occurred about two hours later.

A day after the shooting that left an officer on life support, police arrested 31-year-old Elliot Knox and 32-year-old Travon Shaw, both of whom are facing murder, attempted murder, assault, and various weapons charges in two separate cases.

According to police, the Baltimore officer was shot on the 4400 block of Pennington Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m. About two hours later, the two men then went to the 600 block of Lucia Avenue, where they allegedly shot and killed someone.

Police said two weapons possibly used in both shootings are currently being analyzed by the department’s Forensics Sciences and Evidence Management Division.

“These incidents are tragic reminders of the culture of violence that pervades Baltimore. Life is precious and sacred, but unfortunately, there are those who have no regard for it,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said in a press release. “The cowards responsible for the attack … are in custody thanks to the diligent detective work of the Baltimore Police Department and support from other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.”

As of Dec. 21, the officer remains on life support, police said.
