Defendants Sentenced to Probation for Armed Robbery

Two co-defendants accepted a plea deal Dec. 13 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court, and were sentenced to probation.

Deshawn Bray and Samuel Perez are being charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault, theft from $100 to under $1500, conspiracy to commit theft, and discharging firearms. Bray, 21, is being charged for their alleged involvement in an incident that occurred on April 28, 2020.

Judge Melissa Copeland listened as the prosecution explained the terms of the agreements, both defendants would take a plea for probation before judgment if to second-degree assault and theft for item(s) from $100 to $1500. Probation before judgement is not a conviction.

Under the plea, Perez, 19, must serve two years on supervised probation, for each charge, and must not contact the victim in the case. He must also not own or possess a BB gun. The time for the theft charge would run concurrent to the assault charge.

Bray, who now lives in Georgia, must serve two years on unsupervised probation for each charge. He must also not contact the victim, nor can he own or possess a BB gun. The time for the theft charge would run concurrently.

According to the prosecution, the individuals robbed the victim of his shoes. Bray and Perez were apprehended by officers later that evening during a traffic stop, where two BB guns were found under the driver and passenger seats.
