A Baltimore man charged with the attempted murder of a 38-year-old man in February received a trial date in May 2022.
Franklin Randall, 41, was arrested earlier this year after getting into an argument and then shooting a man on Feb. 5 on the 5400 block of Reisterstown Road, according to CBS Baltimore. Officers with the Baltimore Police Department learned of the shooting after a report of a walk-in shooting victim at a hospital.
The defendant has since been charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, discharging firearms, and illegal possession of ammo.
Randall was denied bail in July.
On Wednesday, the prosecution offered Randall a plea of life, suspending all but 20 years, and three years of probation for attempted first-degree murder, and five years without parole to run concurrently for firearm use in a felony violent crime.
Under the plea, the defendant must also stay away from the victim.
Defense attorney Michael Tomko and Randall rejected the plea, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial for May 17, 2022, before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.
