A judge at the Baltimore City Circuit Court scheduled a trial date for a non-fatal shooting defendant who decided to reject a plea offer from the prosecution on Nov. 11.
The 38-year-old defendant is charged with 22 counts for first and second-degree assault, theft of $100-$1500, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, firearm use during a felony violent crime, discharging firearms, carrying/wearing a handgun on person, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a registered firearm, and stolen pistol. According to the Maryland Judiciary website, he is being charged for his alleged involvement in an incident that occurred on Feb. 5, 2021.
The prosecutor read Judge Melissa Phinn the plea offer that was on the table, which the defendant decided to reject.
According to the plea deal, the defendant would be sentenced to 18 years in prison with the first 5 years without parole for robbery, first-degree assault and having a handgun on his person.
The defendant’s defense attorney, Janet Anderson, who was not present during the hearing because she was in trial, did not have a counter offer available.
Judge Phinn set a trial date for April 13, 2022.
