A Gaithersburg man accepted a plea offer for attempted homicide on Nov. 1 in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Mayib Seck, 34, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and nine firearms charges in connection to an incident on April 14.
According to the prosecution, a Baltimore Police Department officer responded to a shooting and chased after Seck, who allegedly had a handgun. Seck then ran into an alley and attempted to get rid of the weapon.
The defendant was arrested shortly after and three live rounds were found in the handgun.
On Monday, Seck was offered five years, suspending all but time service, and three years of supervised probation for illegal possession of a firearm. After a brief discussion with defense attorney Benjamin Charlton, Seck accepted the offer before Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
