A non-fatal shooting defendant had a trial date set during reception court on Oct. 25 in front of Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
The 34-year-old defendant is charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, drug possession while in possession of firearms, having a handgun in a vehicle, two counts of discharging firearms, a traffic violation, failure to stop for an accident, and three counts of second-degree assault.
On Monday, the prosecution shared an offer of five years without parole for firearm possession with a felony conviction and five years for each of the three counts of second-degree assault to be served concurrently.
Due to a great amount of discovery that has yet to be reviewed, defense attorney Staci Pipkin said she would not be ready for trial prior to the Hicks’ date.
The defendant decided to waive his right to a speedy trial. Under Maryland law, a defendant has the right to be tried by their Hicks’ date, or within 180 days of their first appearance in court.
A trial date has been set for March 20, 2022.
