Two co-defendants charged with homicide will now be tried separately following a hearing on Oct. 12.

Baltimore residents Sean Braxton-Carter, 33, and Tashonda Childs, 37, both face two counts of first-degree murder and one count of firearm use in a violent crime in connection to an incident on Feb. 2, 2020.

Braxton-Carter is also charged with having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in his vehicle, and firearm possession with a felony conviction.

On Oct. 13, Childs’ defense attorney, Warren Brown, told Baltimore Witness that his client’s case was separated from her co-defendant’s and postponed to give the defense counsel time to review new discovery. In turn, Braxton-Carter’s trial was postponed to allow Childs’ statement to be used in his trial.

Childs’ trial was postponed to March 8, 2022, and Braxton-Carter’s trial was postponed to April 25, 2022.

The pair previously rejected plea offers in July.

Childs was offered life, suspending all but 50 years, for first-degree murder, and Braxton-Carter, who is represented by defense attorney Hunter Pruette, was offered life, suspending all but 60 years, for first-degree murder.
