A man accused of shooting another man who allegedly shot at him, rejected a plea offer Oct. 12 during reception court at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Eddie Buckley, 39, is charged in connection to a shooting on Feb. 5 on the 2000 block of Wheeler Avenue. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and firearm possession with a felony conviction.
According to counsel, the other shooter, who Buckley is accused of shooting, was allegedly in a dispute with the defendant before driving home and retrieving a rifle. After returning to the scene, the man tried to fire his gun, but the rifle jammed. Buckley then pulled out a pistol and shot the man in the head.
The victim survived.
The prosecution offered a plea of 15 years, suspending all but two years, for firearm possession with a felony conviction and three years of probation. The defendant would also have to register as a gun offender.
The prosecution also said there would be no objection to the sentence being served on home detention.
Buckley and his defense attorney, Andrea Jaskulsky, rejected the offer and trial date was set for Jan. 14, 2022.
The man allegedly shot by Buckley was also charged and denied bail on Aug. 4 as the presiding judge believed that he was the instigator in the incident.
Buckley is currently released on a $35,000 bail.
