Plea Negotiations Underway in March Double Homicide

Plea negotiations are underway for a 22-year-old man who allegedly killed two women earlier this year. 

Baltimore resident Christopher Tyson is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of 21-year-old Denita Barrett and 37-year-old Ashley Lambert. Tyson was arrested on April 24, over a month after the alleged murders.

The Baltimore Police Department reported that a family member found Barrett unresponsive in her home on March 22, when she was later pronounced dead. Less than a week later on March 28, Lambert was found dead at a motel in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway.

Tyson was originally charged with only Barrett’s murder, police said, but was later charged in connection to Lambert’s death as well.

At Baltimore City Circuit Court on Sept. 7, the prosecution mentioned a plea of life for both sentences, which was not yet approved.

The defense attorney, whose name was not listed on the Maryland Judiciary website, told the court that all evidence in the case was turned over to the prosecution, excluding DNA evidence that is still processing and camera footage that was redacted.

Tyson’s case is scheduled to return to reception court on Nov. 18.
