A 34-year-old man charged with allegedly crushing a baby’s skull will go before Judge Philip S. Jackson on Aug. 3 for bail review at Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Baltimore resident Darius Williams was arrested in May in connection to the death of 2-month-old Zorii Pitts. Police were called to the unit block of S. Monastery Avenue around 8:50 a.m. on May 15 when they found the baby unresponsive.

Medical examiners later determined the child’s death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head.

Police did not say whether Williams and Pitts were related.

Williams was arrested two days later and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse that resulted in death, and first-degree child abuse causing severe physical injury.

On Aug. 2, Williams was scheduled for a bail hearing; however, his defense attorney, Linda Zeit, requested the bail hearing be postponed to Aug. 3, as the prosecution wasn’t available on Monday.

Judge Jackson granted the request.
