Postponement Court Cases Included 1 Rejected Plea and , Judge Sets Hearings in Two Homicide Cases

Two homicide cases were presented to Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Monday during reception court. In one case, a homicide defendant rejected a plea offer and another homicide case was set for a motions hearing.

On June 7, Baltimore resident Isaiah Eaddy, 29, was presented a plea offer of life, suspending all but 45 years, and five years probation in connection to a homicide in May 2020. Eaddy was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.

Defense attorney Bradley MacFree told Judge Phinn and the prosecution that Eaddy rejected the offer and the case was rescheduled for postponement court on Aug. 12 when a trial date is expected to be set.

A motions hearing before Judge Yvette Bryant was also scheduled in the case of Baltimore resident Tyrone Harvin, 17, who allegedly raped and murdered an 83-year-old woman in 2018, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Harvin is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree rape, first-degree sexual offense, perverted practice, and use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.

Following a brief discussion between assistant public defenders Robert Linthicum, Deborah St. Jean and Jacquelyn Shelton and the prosecution, a motions hearing was scheduled for Oct. 13, with a trial anticipated in early 2022.

On Aug. 29, 2018, the Baltimore Sun reported, Harvin, then age 14, allegedly raped and physically assaulted 83-year-old Dorothy Mae Neal, who died from her injuries. Police found Neal’s body following a call from a neighbor who reportedly hadn’t seen Neal for a few days.

Harvin was later charged as an adult and is currently in jail.
