A jury reached a split decision in the fatal shooting trial of Kendrick Henson, 17, on Sept. 11.
Henson was tried for an incident that occurred at the Mondawnin Metro Station on the 2300 block of Liberty Heights over two years ago on July 21,2024. Henson’s trial was before Baltimore City Court Judge Michael A. Dipietro.
Henson was found not guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Even though acquitted of murder, the jury still found Henson guilty of firearm use in a violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor, and loaded handgun on a person.
According to court documents, Baltimore Police Department officers arrived at the metro station after receiving a call of a shooting. They found two victims who were suffering from gunshot wounds.
The first victim was transported to the Shock Trauma where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The second victim Jasper Davis, 14, was transported to Sinai Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Video footage shows the defendant firing a shot at the first victim and as he tries to flee. Davis attempts to disarm Henson before being shot.
Henson is seen fleeing on foot from the scene.
Officers recovered six 9mm cartridge casings, one cell phone, and identified blood residue on the scene.
Henson’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 16.
