The case of Aaron Mills, 43, was sent to postponement court on July 21 by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge LaZette Ringgold-Kirksey after the parties disputed the state’s request to delay the trial.
Mills is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, multiple firearm offenses, two counts of use of a firearm in a crime of violence, drug distribution-related offenses and other weapons charges in connection to a Dec. 28, 2025 incident on the 6300 block of Belair Road.
According to charging documents, Mills got into a verbal altercation over an unpaid bill at the Hubcap Bar & Grill. This allegedly escalated, causing Mills to retrieve firearms from his black Dodge Ram truck. He reportedly threatened multiple people before firing several rounds, though no one was injured.
Charging documents further allege that after officers confronted Mills reportedly, he resisted arrest and struck an officer in the chest before being taken into custody.
The case was scheduled to begin on July 20, but the State requested a postponement after receiving recent evidence related to the drug charges and conflicts with an officer who is both a witness and an alleged victim in the case.
Defense attorney Avrohom Greenfield withdrew a previously filed motion to disqualify in an effort to avoid delaying the trial and opposed the state’s request for a postponement.
Judge Ringgold-Kirksey ultimately sent the case to postponement court due to the lead investigator’s leaving on vacation.
The parties are scheduled to appear before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland at 8:45 a.m. on July 21, when the state is expected to formally request a postponement.
