Christopher Peacock, 34, was sentenced to 25 years, suspending all but 12 during a May 8 hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow.
Peacock was initially charged with attempted murder, assault and various firearm charges in connection to a shooting incident that occurred last summer at a Fells Point apartment complex.
According to previous reporting, Peacock, the victim and several others were attending a party inside one of the apartment units on June 20, 2025. During the gathering, an argument ensued between several guests, and Peacock allegedly pointed a gun at the victim’s head. The gun failed to discharge, and its magazine fell onto the floor. The victim alleged that Peacock proceeded to replace the magazine and subsequently discharge the gun at the floor, causing partygoers to flee.
Investigators later recovered a cocaine-like substance, a dollar bill with residue and two .22-caliber cartridges from the living room of the apartment unit.
On March 9, a jury found Peacock not guilty of attempted murder, but guilty of first degree assault and various firearm charges.
On Friday, the prosecution asked Judge Lazerow to give Peacock a sentence on the higher end of the state guidelines, claiming the incident and trial process were both “traumatic” experiences for the victim. They added that the victim and Peacock used to be friends before the incident.
“This could’ve ended in an absolute tragedy,” the prosecution said, requesting a sentence of 25 years, suspending all but 15, followed by five years of supervised probation.
Defense attorney Augestine Okeke argued that none of the witnesses in the case testified the victim was actually in danger, adding that Peacock has no prior criminal history.
Additionally, Peacock possessed a gun license at the time, though not a wear and carry permit.
“It was a stupid mistake, without the intent to hurt anyone,” Okeke stated, asking the court to sentence Peacock to 10 to 15 years, suspending all but five with the possibility of parole.
In a statement made to court, Peacock added that his mother suffers from end stage cancer, and expressed a desire to be with her at this time.
“The victim and I are best friends,” he remarked. “The year I spent [incarcerated already] was enough.”
Judge Lazerow ultimately sentenced Peacock to 25 years, suspending all but 12, with four years of supervised probation for his crimes.
