On Sept. 15, 18-year-old defendant Josiah Sweeney-Teal pleaded guilty to a non-fatal shooting before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Emanuel Brown.
Sweeney-Teal pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony/violent crime. According to the deal, he could be sentenced to be 30 years in prison suspending all but 15 years.
Sweeney-Teal was originally charged with attempted first and-second-degree murder, assault first-degree, reckless endangerment, handgun on person, firearm use in a felony violent crime and illegal possession of ammunition.
According to charging documents, on Sept. 4, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. a man walked into Sinai Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to his neck and back. He was accompanied by someone who witnessed the events leading up to the shooting.
The witness advised they were on the 3900 block of Reisterstown Road when the victim was shot.
Surveillance footage of the incident was obtained by officers identified a muzzle flash emitting from a heavy-set light complexion male wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.

Counsel is scheduled to appear in court on Sept.16 to iron out the details regarding the defendant’s other case in Washington County.
