Spaulding Avenue Murder Trial Delayed For Juror Shortage, Attorney Illness

Court proceedings against Gerald McEachern, 24, were postponed Feb. 24 in Baltimore City Circuit Court due to a lack of jurors and one attorney on medical leave.

McEachern was initially charged alongside 26-year-old Daquan Parker, for his alleged involvement in the murder of 19-year-old Rasheed Lindsey, which occurred near the 3000 block of Spaulding Avenue on March 9, 2024. Lindsey passed away the next night due to his injuries.

Parker, who was acquitted last January, was subsequently shot and killed almost a year later outside a Royal Farms on the 1500 block of Russell Street. The shooting, which unfolded during the early morning hours of Dec. 10, 2025, occurred the same day McEachern’s trial was set to proceed. McEachern’s case was consequently postponed.

On the designated morning to continue the proceedings , the lack of available jurors led to another postponement in McEachern’s case. Counsel also informed the court that an attorney associated with the case was sick.

The case was then brought before Judge Melissa K. Copeland Bryant, who reassigned the matter to Judge Barry G. Williams for trial.

Court records show the juror shortage persisted, leading to another possible postponement. A new date for trial has yet to be selected.
