Suspect Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges After Claiming She Was Carjacked

A Baltimore woman pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute narcotics in exchange for time already served before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong on Oct. 14.

Shanay O. Conway, 33, agreed to the plea agreement after her arrest on June 7, after Conway called police to report an alleged carjacking on the unit block of S. Carey Street.

Conway claimed to police at the time that she was robbed at gunpoint and the suspect had allegedly shot at her before driving away in her black Audi.

Officers from the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) responding to the scene examined a green and black Ford Crown Victoria that Conway and a friend drove to the location and found a .40-caliber handgun on the floor in front of the driver’s seat. She was also holding and attempting to conceal a clear plastic bag containing 45 rectangular blue tablets. The bag, which was labeled “Coca Cola” on one side and had an image of a bottle on the other, was suspected to contain MDMA.

At the time of her arrest, Conway was on probation and prohibited from possessing a gun due to three prior convictions — an armed robbery conviction from April 17, 2014, and two possession with intent to distribute charges from September 2021. Conway was also prohibited from gun possession due to an active protective order against her, and for previously resisting arrest.

Conway’s other nine charges were dismissed upon her acceptance of the plea bargain.
