Witnesses testified on Sept. 8 about video footage claiming to show defendant Joseph Linwood Edwards, 25, shooting a male victim in Northwest Baltimore last April. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Hope Tipton presided over the trial.
Edwards is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony crime of violence, reckless endangerment, and related gun violations for his alleged involvement in the shooting, which occurred April 23, 2024 on the 3100 block of W. North Avenue.
Jurors were shown surveillance footage from near the incident location that allegedly captured Edwards riding a Spin e-scooter in the area for approximately two hours prior to the shooting.
All three testifying witnesses allegedly confirmed Edwards was the suspect seen in the footage. The witnesses previously confirmed Edwards’ identity in flyers distributed throughout the investigation process.
The victim’s aunt later took the stand to confirm her nephew’s current condition, stating the incident left him unable to walk or talk. The victim is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, she stated. Medical records also confirm his current condition.
The trial is currently ongoing.
