Milton Clarence Johnson Jr, 21, was acquitted by a jury before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn S. Mays on July 17, just hours after counsel concluded closing arguments in the trial.
Johnson was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, reckless endangerment, and multiple firearms-related offenses in relation to an incident that occurred last November in the parking lot of Harford Heights Elementary School, located on the 1900 block of N. Broadway.
As previously reported, charging documents note that the victim was washing his car in the parking lot on Nov. 9, 2024 when his neighbor, later identified as Johnson, came out from a backyard on Darley Avenue and approached. After telling the victim, “Yeah b*tch, I got you now,” the suspect reportedly fired one round at the victim, who then fled southbound.
The jury ultimately sided with defense attorney Daniel P. Mooney, finding Johnson not guilty of all charges but one. In the end, the court granted Mooney’s motion to acquit Johnson of the final charge, having a handgun within 100 yards of a public place.
