Omar Passmore, 29, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and unlawful use of a firearm on June 24, accepting a plea deal of life in prison and 20 concurrent years for the charges. He was represented by defense attorney Jason Rodriguez before Judge Kimberly McBride.

On July 19, 2024, witnesses saw a man they identified as Passmore enter the home of 12-year-old Breaunna Cormley. Witnesses reported hearing yelling, then gunshots. Afterward, Passmore was seen sitting on the front steps of the home before fleeing the scene. Investigators report no one else was in the house at the time.

Breaunna was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Although first responders administered lifesaving aid, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) shortly put out a warrant for Passmore’s arrest.

Two days later, on July 21, 2024, an anonymous caller tipped off BPD, leading to Passmore’s arrest. He had a handgun on his person.

Passmore reportedly confessed to BPD, admitting he killed Breaunna and claiming he did so because she was “making him look bad on social media.”

While speaking with police, Passmore also reportedly expressed anger that Breaunna’s mother, whom he previously had a child with, had been “ignoring” him. A year prior, Breaunna’s mother had been granted a protective order for protection from domestic violence against Passmore, which forbade him from possessing a firearm.

Passmore was initially set to stand for a jury trial in March 2024, but the trial was postponed, and Passmore eventually pleaded guilty, waiving his right to a jury trial. He will serve life in prison.

As written in a statement from Breaunna’s family that was read aloud during Passmore’s sentencing, “Breaunna was loved by many.”
