Reginald Allen, 46, attempted to break into M&T Bank Stadium on the 1100 block of Russell Street while intoxicated, and allegedly discharged a firearm into a stadium security booth on Nov. 20, 2024

Allen was charged with discharging a firearm, wearing a handgun under the influence, possessing a firearm within 100 yards of a public building, attempting to use a firearm in a special purpose area, and malicious destruction of property under $1000.

According to charging documents, Allen attempted to pull open an entrance gate at the stadium at 10:27 p.m. After being told to leave by a security officer, Allen fired two shots into an empty security booth.

Allen, who saw a stadium security officer following him, removed a silver handgun from his waist, along with an ammunition magazine and his cellphone, and placed the items on the ground. Allen then dropped to the ground and said, “I did it.”

At a plea hearing conducted by Baltimore City Circuit Judge Kimberly C. McBride, Allen accepted a plea offer of one year, suspending all but time served, along with 18 months of supervised probation. Allen also agreed to surrender his gun permits for discharging a firearm.

Defense attorney Annice Brown told the court that Allen previously relinquished his gun permits through the Maryland State Police. Brown said Allen was also charged with impersonating a police officer after applying to the police academy.

Allen participated in several education courses during his time at the Central Booking & Intake Facility, including anger management, alcohol treatment, CPR training and a graphic design class.

“I want to apologize to my family, who I left behind,” he said to the court. “My drinking habits cost me a potential career with the Baltimore City Police.”

Allen has been referred to an alcohol treatment program and will be reassessed May 8 by Judge McBride.
