On Dec. 17, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey M. Geller dismissed the jury in a murder trial after personal matters prevented the prosecution from returning to the courtroom.

Meanwhile, the defendant, 40-year-old Tyrelle Fields, previously dismissed his defense attorney so he could represent himself. Last week, Fields also attempted to dismiss video evidence, testimonies and the entire prosecution.

Fields faces charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, the use of a handgun in a crime of violence, illegal possession of a handgun, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, carrying a gun, and having a gun on his person, in a vehicle, or in transport. Fields is charged in connection with an incident that occurred on May 5, 2021, on the 700 block of North Paca Street.

The victim, who was 49 years old at the time of the incident, told Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers that he agreed to meet Fields’ ex-girlfriend and co-defendant, Keisha Clark, after she asked him for money. The victim approached Clark’s car and noticed Fields next to her, holding a semi-automatic handgun.

Clark reportedly demanded all of the victim’s money. Fields then allegedly shot him three times. Police responders found him with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg. They rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Detectives recovered five shell casings, DNA, blood evidence and video footage from the scene.

Judge Geller instructed jurors to return to the selection room and plans to select new jurors tomorrow, Dec. 18. The trial is projected to end Dec. 23.
