Attempted Murder Defendant Rejects Plea Deal

A 22-year-old man charged with attempted murder rejected a plea offer on Oct. 28 in Baltimore City Circuit Court before Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Sean Clayton Lewis Jr is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, -first and second- degree assault, conspiracy to -first and -second degree assault as well as firearm possession, discharge and use of a firearm felony violent crime on April 7, 2024. 

The prosecution offered a plea deal of 25 years, suspending all but 10 years, and three years of supervised probation for conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. According to the terms, the defendant must also stay away from the victim. 

Defense attorney Roya Hanna, standing in for Staci Pipkin, told the judge at a pretrial hearing on Oct. 28 that Lewis rejected the offer. 

The prosecutor noted that a co-defendant is slated to be added to the case.

A three-day trial was scheduled to begin on Jan. 7, 2025, before Judge Nicole K. Barmore.
