A 34-year-old defendant appeared before Baltimore City Court Judge Kendra Y. Ausby to plead guilty to a Halloween 2015 murder Aug. 12.
Anthony Burris was charged with second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime for allegedly shooting 31-year-old Earl Burton in the head from the back seat, then pushing Burton out of a vehicle in the 1100 block of Laurens Street.
The prosecution extended a plea deal to Burris of 30 years, suspending all but 15 years for second-degree murder, the first five years without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation with mental health treatment and five years to be served concurrently for firearm use in a felony crime. Burris will register as a gun offender upon release.
Burris, represented by his attorney Michael Lawlor, accepted the plea offer.
