The trial of one of three co-defendants in last October’s fatal Federal Hill shooting continued on Nov. 5 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays. During the proceeding multiple witnesses testified to 30-year-old defendant Devontaye Richardson’s alleged involvement in the death of 19-year-old Cameran Holt.
Prosecutors say Richardson and his co-defendant, 29-year-old Daeshaun Tyreke Clark, conspired to kill Holt that night. The third co-defendant in the case, 21-year-old Alexis Cancel-Soto, was found guilty of first-degree murder and seven other charges on Sept. 16.
Holt was found near a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the back of her neck. A responding officer said she immediately began performing CPR while describing the scene as chaotic, with multiple b ystanders present, including Holt’s sister and a friend.
A Baltimore detective later testified that he identified– Richardson known by the nickname “Tayemoney”—after reviewing photographs provided by the prosecution.
Further evidence came from a crime scene investigator who processed the area later that morning. He documented and photographed multiple items of evidence, including a projectile recovered from a nearby residence and a Chrysler 200 linked to the incident, noting the vehicle’s shattered windshield, two bullet holes in the trunk, one on the roof, and additional damage along the bumper.
Throughout the proceedings, defense attorneys pushed back against the prosecution’s narrative, questioning the thoroughness of the investigation. They pointed to the lack of forensic testing on the vehicle and raised concerns about how the scene was secured.
The trial is set to continue this week in Baltimore City Circuit Court with additional testimony.
