Western District Shooting Reclassified as Self-Inflicted

On June 8, at approximately 3:19 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 2000 block of North Bentalou Street to investigate a reported shooting.

Once at the location, officers located a 17-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the rear alley of the 2000 block of Smallwood Avenue where he admitted to detectives that he shot himself.
