The trial of a man accused of killing Cordy Shaw, 34, and injuring another woman during a double shooting was dismissed on Feb. 25 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow.
The dismissal came after the state was unable to secure an essential witness for trial, a representative from the State’s Attorney’s Office told Baltimore Witnesss.
Charging documents state that on the morning of July 27, 2023, surveillance cameras captured 27-year-old Freddie Pernel Pritchett following Shaw into his residence on the 1600 block of Delano Court. Additional footage reportedly showed Pritchett leaving the residence after the shooting with a firearm in his right hand. Witnesses identified Pritchett as the suspect.
Pritchett initially faced seven charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and four gun violations for his alleged involvement in the double shooting.
Court documents also showed that defense attorney Michael Tomko filed a motion for dismissal in last September, citing illegally obtained evidence and in appropriately suggestive methods in identifying Pritchett as the suspect.
