A scheduling hearing for a trial took place on March 28 for Darren Tomlinson, 31, who faces homicide charges related to a January double shooting that left one man dead and another injured.
As per earlier reports, the incident occurred Jan. 19 near the 400 block of Washburn Avenue. Baltimore Police arrived at the location and discovered two victims beside a Dodge Ram truck, one suffering from gunshot wounds while Hassan Howard, 43, lay unresponsive nearby.
Both were taken to the hospital, where Howard was subsequently declared dead. Detectives found that two individuals approached the car on foot, shot at it and escaped in a dark-colored SUV. Authorities later identified the suspects said to be Tomlinson and his brother, Dylon Tomlinson, using surveillance footage and license plate reader data.
During the reception court hearing, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn agreed to set a provisional trial date of Aug. 17. Proceedings are set to last six days before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
