The murder trial of 39-year-old Eric Morris continued Thursday with the tearful testimony of victim Wayne Archer’s mother. She carried a box of tissues and wore all black as she took the stand to identify her 33-year-old son.

Archer’s mother testified the last time she saw her son was Dec. 10, 2020, the day of the murder. When she learned he had been shot, she rushed to the hospital to see him, but he had already been pronounced dead when she arrived. Investigators later learned the murder occurred in the 2100 block of Garrison Boulevard.

The prosecution presented a closeup image of Archer’s shoulder, which had a tattoo honoring his mother with her portrait and name, as well as two bullet wounds along his shoulder and bicep.

Archer’s mother grew more emotional as questioning continued, and several other members of Archer’s family exited the courtroom to collect themselves emotionally. One blew Archer’s mother a kiss while she was on the stand.

During the hearing, the prosecution presented the jury with footage from a responding officer’s body-worn camera, which documented the first 15 minutes after the officer arrived at the scene. Police were seen futily trying to save Archer applying CPR.

Investigators also recovered a black satchel hanging on a fence near the crime scene that contained suspected marijuana, a cellphone, portable charger, and handgun.

No motive for the crime was revealed.

The trial is expected to continue Friday before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Martin H. Schreiber, II.
