Victim Takes the Stand in Attempted Murder Trial

Travis Braxton, 23, is standing trial for his alleged involvement in a shooting last October that left a 28-year-old female victim injured inside her East Baltimore home.

Braxton and his 44-year-old father, Larry Braxton, are charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and home invasion in connection to the shooting, which occurred Oct. 13, 2024 on the 4300 block of Sheldon Avenue.

The incident was allegedly spurred by a verbal altercation between the victim, Braxton, and his girlfriend outside the victim’s house. The victim testified that the argument grew so heated that she threw a brick at Braxton’s girlfriend, but missed, causing it to shatter the front door. Realizing the altercation had just turned physical, the victim said she stepped back into her house to put on her shoes to fight.

The victim recalled shouting to her daughter to stay in her room but Braxton allegedly kicked down the door and shot the victim, causing her to break her leg.

During cross-examination, the victim told Braxton’s defense attorney, Avrohom Greenfield, that while she never saw who shot her, she assumed it was Braxton based on the events leading up to the incident.

The victim stated that she holds no grudges towards Braxton and is not out for vengeance, only justice.
Braxton’s trial will continue to be heard before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul J. Cucuzzella.
