Vehicular Manslaughter Defendant Rejects Plea, Gets Trial Date

A man who allegedly drove a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in a fatal accident rejected a plea offer and had a trial date set on Sept. 21 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Stanford Ronnell McNair Jr., 52, is charged in connection with an incident on Aug. 31, 2020. The charges include vehicular manslaughter, homicide with a motor vehicle while intoxicated, homicide with a motor vehicle while under the influence, and 15 related traffic violations. 

The prosecution offered McNair 10 years for vehicular manslaughter , 10 years for failure to remain at an accident that resulted in injury to another person, and a DUI charge, all to be served consecutively. 

McNair and his attorney, Todd Oppenheim, standing in for Megan Lewis, rejected the offer.

Judge Melissa Phinn set a trial date for Nov. 29.
