A defendant charged with vehicular manslaughter was scheduled for trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Nov. 16.
The defendant Brittany Julius is charged with vehicular manslaughter and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter in connection to an incident that happened on Jan. 4, 2021.
Prosecutors offered the defendant a plea of 10 years, suspending all but 18 months with five months of supervised probation, but this plea was rejected by the defense. The defendant also would’ve been required to get a driver’s license and enter a drug program.
Assistant public defense attorney Janet Andersen said she needed time to look over evidence that would aid in a site reconstruction of the incident and requested a postponement of the trial.
Judge Phinn set Julius’ trial date for May 9, 2023, before Judge Dana Middleton. The trial is expected to last for days.
