On May 27, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced the names of multiple homicide victims who were killed earlier this month.
Among the victims was 25-year-old Zion James Clayton, who was shot the evening of May 24 on the unit block of Upmanor Road.
Less than two months prior, the state had dropped murder and gun charges against Clayton. In their dismissal, the state cited failures to locate a key witness in the death of 36-year-old victim Anthony McMichael, who was killed last January on the 3000 block of Oakley Avenue.
According to prior reporting, Clayton exited his dismissal hearing with an exclamation that he “didn’t do it.”
Police have yet to disclose a motive in Clayton’s death.
