Trial Set for Attempted Murder Defendant Who Shot Victim in the Face

On Sep 6, a trial date was set for an attempted homicide defendant before the Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

The prosecution offered Montoya Cure Jr. a life plea, suspending all but 30 years. Cure, represented by defense attorney Michael Tomko, rejected the plea.

Cure, 19, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-
degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime., possession of firearm minor, having a loaded
handgun on his person, reckless endangerment, and discharging a firearm in connection with an incident that occurred on March 10.

According to Fox 45 News, police responded to a shooting on the 1900 block of McCulloh Street, where they found a 50-year-old victim shot in the face. The victim was transported and treated at a local hospital.

Cure is being held, and her trial date is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2023. It is expected to last four days.
