Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland rescheduled the jury trial of Makhie Boyer, 18, during a reception court hearing on March 25.
The proceeding is now set for May 18 before Judge Dana M. Middleton.
Boyer is charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and several gun offenses in connection to the shooting of another man at the Pleasant View Gardens apartments on the 1000 block of New Hope Circle.
Police recovered 23 shell casings from the scene and determined multiple firearms were used.
Charging documents state that Boyer, who was identified as the shooter, likely conspired with two other suspects. Investigators later saw what they believed was the defendant’s vehicle near the scene and confirmed it belonged to him via registration records.
Boyer was arrested on June 4, 2025. Officers allegedly found him with a handgun that proved consistent with recovered ballistic evidence.
Last October, Boyer was offered a plea of 50 years, suspending all but 35, followed by five years of supervised probation. Defense attorney Ben Baker rejected the offer on behalf of Boyer.
