“I’m tired of this,” said Anthony Meredith, Jr., as his trial was postponed Sept. 17 in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Meredith, 46, faces multiple charges of first-degree assault and firearm use in a felony crime of violence, as well as one count of reckless endangerment and multiple firearm offenses. Prosecutors allege Meredith shot his niece following an argument at a Jan. 12 family gathering that occurred on the 5400 block of Clover Road.
Meredith’s case was initially scheduled for trial on Sept 17 with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Michael Dipietro presiding.
Meredith’s case was postponed at the request of defense counsel, as the defendant’s original attorney, Matthew Connell, was unable to appear in reception court. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland, who said she was unaware of Connell’s unavailability beforehand, expressed concern over rescheduling due to Meredith’s impending speedy trial deadline of Sept. 28.
Judge Copeland postponed the hearing to Sept. 19, when parties are expected to determine an appropriate trial date.
