Trial Date for Co-Defendants Accused of Murder Still Pending

On May 17, two co-defendants charged with first-degree murder had their case labeled as needing coverage for 2023 as the prosecution told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn that she couldn’t find an open timeslot to hold the proceeding.  

Eric Jackson, 37, and Bradley Mitchell, 28, are charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident on May 5, 2018. 

Jackson is also charged with possession with a felony conviction. 

During court proceedings on Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor informed the court that she tried to find a trial date where everyone is available this year but she cannot find one. She continued with requesting to come back to reception in September in order to pick a trial date. 

In addition, the prosecutor noted she has no open time to set this trial right now. 

Judge Phinn labeled the case as needing coverage for 2023. The trial is expected to last for seven days.

She continued with telling the prosecutor that if she sees a case that’s going to be resolved, she can see if the defense would be available. If so, Judge Phinn said they will move the case accordingly. 

Jackson and Mitchell were represented by defense attorney’s Lawrence Rosenberg and Martin Cohen. 

According to the Baltimore Sun, on May 5, 2018, officers were called to the 1800 block of South Eden Street for reports of a shooting. They found 17-year-old Ray Glasgow III, a Baltimore City College high school student who was captain of the lacrosse team, suffering from gunshot wounds.
