Three Shooting Victims Reported in Western District, Detectives Launch Homicide Investigation

On July 31, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Dukeland Street to investigate a ShotSpotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 21-year-old female suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and a 17-year-old female suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot to her right arm. Officers canvassed the area further and discovered 22-year-old Chandler Desmond suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head. All three victims were transported to an area hospital where despite life-saving measures, Desmond was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred on the 1200 block of Oakhurst Place.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to assume control over this investigation.
