Non-Fatal Shooting

On Jan. 15, three co-defendants in a non-fatal shooting case pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony or violent crime before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer.
The defendants – 19-year-old Jermaine Johnson, 20-year-old Khyree White, and 21-year-old Tyuan White – accepted the state’s offer of 30 years, suspending all but 12 years, with five years of supervised probation.
On March 28, 2024, the trio of DC residents allegedly opened fire on a woman in her vehicle, leaving behind 14 shell casings and a car with 16 bullet holes.
Judge Schiffer noted that the shooting constituted the first criminal offense for all three young defendants and stressed the relative leniency of their sentences. To conclude, she recommended the defendants read the book, “The Master Plan” by Chris Wilson and Bret Witter.
The work chronicles a District resident’s journey from facing life after shooting and killing a man at the age of 18 to convincing a judge to reduce his sentence in his thirties.
Khyree and Tyuan White accepted the plea offers together.
