On June 6, witnesses to a shooting that left two dead delivered dramatic testimonies on the second day of Dandre Woods-Bethel’s murder trial.

Woods-Bethel, 29, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, five counts of felony firearm use and one count of having a handgun on his person in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred on Sept. 20, 2020, on the 2800 block of Clifton Park Terrace. The shooting claimed the lives of Julie Rice, 46, and Michelle Green, 23.

Four witnesses took the stand, including a former Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer, where they were questioned by the prosecution about their recollection of the events leading up to and after the shooting.

One of the witnesses stated there was no interaction between them and the defendant before gunshots were fired. However, another witness allegedly heard the defendant yell, “You have five minutes to get off this porch.”

The body-worn camera footage of the former BPD officer who was called to the scene showed him and other officers establishing a perimeter around the home where the suspect was believed to be in. A woman and a child were shown exiting the home.

While attempting to coax Woods-Bethel out of the house, one of the officers on scene said to himself, “Come on man. Come out easy.” Woods-Bethel exited the home shortly thereafter, where he was then handcuffed. The footage then showed the officer entering the house and allegedly finding a rifle in the basement.

The defense counsel had no questions for any of the witnesses.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul E. Alpert is presiding over this case.
