A 19-year-old Baltimore teenager rejected a plea of 30 years on March 8 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Eric Denully is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, firearm use during a violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a gun within Baltimore for his alleged involvement in an incident on Sept. 19, 2021.
Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life suspending all but 30 years with five years probation for attempted first-degree murder, and five years without parole for firearm use during a violent crime.
Denully and his defense attorney, Justin Greer, rejected the offer.
According to court documents, on Sept. 19, 2021 patrol officers were called to the 2000 block of Ruxton Avenue at approximately 4:25 p.m. for a shot spotter alert, where they found the victim laying outside on the stairs suffering from gunshot wounds.
The medics took the victim to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where she is being treated.
Denully’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16.
