A teenager is set to stand trial in February 2023 for first-degree murder.
Zachariah Allison, 17, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor, reckless endangerment, third-degree burglary, and second-degree assault in connection to an incident that occurred on Aug. 10, 2021.
No plea offer has been made at this time as the prosecution awaits DNA test results.
On Aug. 4, Allison’s defense counsel, Andre Mahasa, informed Judge Melissa M. Phinn that he is attempting to have his client’s case transferred to juvenile court. However, the intensity of the charges may be reason enough to continue charging Allison in adult court.
Allison is set for a 5-day trial beginning on Feb. 21, 2023 with Judge Videtta A. Brown presiding.
