An 18-year-old charged in an April non-fatal shooting incident is now set to stand trial in February next year.
Kyree Brannon is charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and four firearm violations in connection to an April 27 shooting incident that occurred on the 5800 block of Northwood Drive. The incident left a fellow 18-year-old man with non-critical gunshot wounds to his upper left arm and back. Brannon was charged as an adult despite being 17-years-old at the time.
Investigations later revealed that the victim and Brannon were walking on the 5800 block of Northwood Drive when Brannon suddenly stopped, produced a gun, and allegedly fired multiple gunshots at the victim as he fled southbound on Chinquapin Parkway. When the victim reached the 1000 block of Reverdy Road, he called the police, who responded at approximately 2:20 p.m.
A witness later positively identified Brannon as the person who reportedly shot and injured the victim, and Brannon was arrested three days after the incident on April 30.
Following scheduling discussions with counsel, reception court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set Brannon’s trial to begin Feb. 19, 2026 before Judge M. Brooke Murdock.
