Witness testimony began on July 15 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Hope Tipton in the murder trial of defendant Timothy Shearn Jr, 27.
Sheam is charged with first degree murder, first and second degree assault, having a handgun on person and firearm use in a felony/violent crime
According to charging documents, Shearn and his former-girlfriend got into a dispute during which Shearn allegedly pulled a gun from his backpack. The ex-girlfriend fled the scene, flagged down the police and informed them of the events that took place. She would later return this time with her current boyfriend Deonyaye Johnson.
Court documents further state that while Johnson and Shearn were speaking, Shearn briefly went inside a nearby residence before returning, fatally shooting Johnson, and fleeing the scene. A witness identified Shearn as the shooter.
Sheam’s former girlfriend and mother of his child testified that in her initial conversation with the defendant he seemed really frustrated and was yelling. She further mentions that when he pulled out the gun he did not point it at her but rather held it to his side.
The jury trial is set to continue on July 15 with additional witness testimony..
