A detective testified about surveillance video on March 17 in the trial of Eric Byrone Kibler, 44, who is charged with the August 2024 homicide of Anthony Martin, 36, during a parking dispute in East Baltimore.
Kibler faces 47 charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted first-degree murder for his involvement in the shootout, which occurred Aug. 18, 2024, outside a motorcycle clubhouse on the 1300 block of N. Spring Street.
According to court documents, members of the Thunderguards motorcycle club were hosting a memorial cookout near the Caroline and Hoffman Park basketball courts when a verbal argument broke out over a residential parking spot at approximately 7:19 p.m.
The dispute escalated into a mass shooting involving multiple gunmen. While seven others sustained non-fatal injuries, Martin was struck multiple times. He was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital later that evening.
During the proceedings before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow, a crime laboratory technician presented photographic evidence of the crime scene. Following her testimony, the lead detective took the stand to detail the internal investigation and describe surveillance camera angles near the clubhouse.
Police allege that video surveillance captured Kibler, identified as one of the shooters, standing directly in front of Martin and firing the fatal shots.
Cross-examination of the lead detective is scheduled to resume March 18, followed immediately by closing arguments.
