Attempted homicide defendant Taron Whiting, 19, will begin his jury trial on June 1 in connection to an attempted murder last summer.
Whiting is currently facing attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and five weapons charges for the incident on July 1, 2022.
On Jan. 9, Whiting and his defense attorney, Linda Zeit, listened to the prosecution’s plea offer of life, suspending all but 25 years, and five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder, and a consecutive five years without parole for firearm use in a felony violent crime.
The defendant would also be required to stay away from and have no contact with the victims and witnesses involved in the case.
Whiting rejected the plea offer, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn set a trial date for this summer with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge M. Brooke Murdock presiding.
