On Sept. 29, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of S. Charles Street to investigate a call for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 23-year-old Ryan Alexander Demby suffering from numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds. Medics responded and transported the victim to the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma, where, despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a verbal altercation had occurred prior to the incident.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.
